rainbow gathering

After going out and getting f'd up on my birthday with friends and Australian family, I had it tough this week at work. Man, was I tired. But it was worth it. We made fools out of ourselves, danced in 5 inch heels and got absolutely wasted. Still managed to get home 'early' and have drinks at home.

The following week I got my husbands' presents, who is trying to feed my obsession with Studio Ghibli and "My neighbour Totoro". He got me walltes, slippers and collectables on top of my other birthday surprises I posted about earlier.
My in-laws got me, despite paying for pretty much everything during the night out, an amazing birthday cake and an absolute astonishing bracelet. I am usually not a big fan of "real" jewellery, mostly because I'm paranoid about losing stuff and because I can't afford it, but this bracelet is just made for me in its simplicity and sparkle.
I had a blast with my sister-in-law and despite doing my hear (the world thanks her for making my awful regrowth disappear), a really nice studded tunic top and some floral stationary! I love stationary!! Makes me
feel so organised!
Also Dan's nana made a crochet blanket for me in the most amazing colours. The privilege of getting a crochet blanket is usually exclusive to grandchildren, so I feel officially welcomed to the family!

The biggest surprise though came from my loved ones back home. I didn't expect a parcel or anything, I just knew there would be a birthday card in the mail. I figured out later this week that what my Mama called "card" was the pick up card for my birthday box at the post office. The excitement of going through my favourite Austrian sweets, magazines, DVDs and clothes, a fluffy blanket and heaps of other cooking ingredients I DO miss a lot, was indescribable. I am SO happy grateful for all my wonderful family and how they all have put thought into getting me something special, even though I didn't even ask for or want anything but their presence.
I miss my family heaps and I also miss Austria and Europe but the people here (and SKYPE!!) make up for a lot.

Thanks again to everyone who made this week so special. Thanks to my lovely family here who are always where they are needed, thanks to my family back home who I love and miss and can't wait to see again soon!!

go shorty! it's your birthday!

21 Balloons, selfmade chocolate cake and candles, Rango at the movies, sore lips from salty popcorn, maggot-lolly, drink at our "first date" bar, most bestest lame birthday card in the world, nana nap, shopping, thai food, long day, short night. Thanks to my amazing husband, who can turn 2 bugs into a thoughtful and romantic birthday surprise at midnight while listening to his angry, tired wife nagging away. I love you. Thanks for making this day so special.

3 more pairs of shoes have moved into my closet last week. I'm going to try not to buy any for the rest of the month. Oh god....

Rackk and Ruin Competition

I entered a competition on wonderful Molly's art and fashion blog
and happened to win one of her gorgeous necklaces.

Thanks so much Molly for this lovely giveaway, I will wear it around like a proud peacock its feathers.
Also, check out her other amazing creations here.

I did not have three thousand pairs of shoes, I had one thousand and sixty. Imelda Marcos

So it has been the start of my third week of working in a shoe shop and the amount of shoes I aquired, not to mention the amount I put on hold, proof how bad working in the fashion retail industry is for my bank account.
Also I calculated a little to see which room of the house has to be turned into a closet.
4 pairs is what I got within the first two weeks, makes 2 pairs a week, times 52 weeks a year makes 104 pairs, plus special sale items makes approximately 150 pairs/year, I will probably be working there until my permanent residency is granted so times two will make at least 300 pairs -  I guess my husband's office has got to go.

While I am building up my collection I'll let you have a look at the lovely boots and flats I got already. They're mainly work shoes so at the moment I am still holding myself back with all the heels, although I am already looking at a pair of 5 inch embroidered open toe heels for autumn/winter.
For all you Aussies living in QLD or VIC you can get these fantastic shoes at any Famous Footwear store.

Lomo lens and another gig

So I got myself a 20 Dollar Lomo-Lens for my Nikon and had to find out that it only works in manual mode. The only results I've been getting so far were noisy black ones - and that happens with my 'professional' lens AND my lomo lens. What a shame.

I really like Holga and I really like Lomo shots like this one so there will be no way round reading the camera manual.

Also I have taken pictures at Dan's band's gig again. I am exceptionally proud of those - not because they're extraordinarily good or anything - it's just, I was wearing 12 cm heels and a dress that night and still managed to move around, kneel down and jump over ropes while taking photos in manual focus and - here comes the most astonishing fact - NOT showing off my underpants ONCE.
(Note: A combination of these things seems somewhat impossible for me - and I shall call myself Re-Tar-Do)
I had a ball, even though I had to sell shoesees the next day. The boys did a great job, I even would go as far as calling it their best gig.

Here you go.

Being the dickhead that I am I deleted some of the photos with my cousin (who was here from Austria with a mate!) as well as some other "Stepbrothers"-inspired amazing pictures while transferring them from my camera to my computer. I shed a tear but I guess I just gotta move on.

Ps: My next post will deal with the negative sides of working in a shoe shop - alas - the amount of shoes I have accumulated in two weeks time.
Work's been busy and so has life.

New updates soon!

bitchin a total freaking rockstar from mars!

He's not angry, he's passionate, people!
And he's tired of pretending he's not special. Trust me, Charlie, you are a very special boy!

For some reason I really enjoy watching this interview. It's just incredible how people who seem to have everything, can loose it. On top of that I think he speaks out loud what a lot of the Hollywood people think - that they're hot shit and underpaid and the centre of the friggin universe. Still he's got crazy eyes and I wouldn't wanna meet him in the middle of the night.
